What a General Contractor Can Do for Your Building

Your home or business is one of the biggest investments you will make, and work on it deserves careful management. A general contractor runs a project from start to finish: planning the work, scheduling the trades, ordering materials, keeping the site safe and making sure the result matches what you agreed on. ABC Environmental Contracting Services provides general contracting across the St. Louis area, whether you are rebuilding after damage or improving a space you already love. Because restoration is our background, we pay close attention to the moisture, ventilation and structural details that keep a project looking good for years, which matters in the region’s many older homes.

Remodeling

Most homes have a room or two that could use an update. We handle remodeling projects of all sizes, from refreshing a single bathroom to reworking a kitchen layout, with the same care we bring to restoration. Common remodeling projects include:

Bathroom remodeling
Kitchen remodeling
Bedroom remodeling
Outdoor remodeling

Ready to update your St. Louis home? A general contractor like ABC Environmental Contracting Services can take the whole project off your plate.

Drywall and Plastering

Cracked, damaged or patched-over walls make a space feel worn. We repair and replace drywall, match textures, and repair the plaster walls common in older St. Louis homes, leaving surfaces ready for paint. If water or mold caused the damage, we fix the source before the new wall goes up.

Home Additions and Expansions

Need more space without leaving the neighborhood you love? An addition can give you a new bedroom, a bigger kitchen, a sunroom or extra living space. We coordinate the design and the trades, and we build the addition to blend with your existing home so it looks like it was always there.

Basement Finishing

Plenty of St. Louis homes have a basement with potential and not much else. Basement finishing turns that space into a family room, guest suite, home office or rec room. Basements here are prone to moisture and sewer backups, so we check for leaks and humidity problems and fix them first, then frame, insulate, drywall and finish the space so it stays comfortable and dry. Pair it with basement waterproofing for extra protection.

Exterior Home Improvement

Your building’s exterior is the first thing people see. We handle exterior repairs and improvements such as siding, windows, doors, decks and trim, helping your property look its best and hold up to St. Louis weather, from summer storms to freeze-thaw winters.

From the moment she arrived to clean up and repair the water damage to our home, she demonstrated expertise, confidence in her knowledge and skills, leadership with her team, and impeccable customer service. My family and I were immediately put at ease by Megan’s manner and extensive knowledge. She clearly knew her business and got right to work. She was thorough and professional the entire time. All of our questions were addressed patiently and completely. She arrived when promised and called and messaged when she said she would. The work was completed quickly and well. The team cleaned up everything as they left. Cleaning up from a water incident in one’s home is never going to be a good time, but Megan made the experience as easy and pain free as possible. Any company would be lucky to have her on staff! Read more

FAQ

General Contractor FAQs

How Much Does a General Contractor Cost?

It depends on the size and scope of the project, the materials you choose and how much of the existing structure needs work. We walk through the project with you and provide a free, detailed estimate before any work begins.

Do You Work on Older Homes?

Yes. Many St. Louis homes have plaster walls, original trim and older framing, and we plan repairs and remodels to respect those details while bringing the space up to date.

Can You Handle Repairs After Water or Fire Damage?

Yes. Because we also provide restoration, we can take a damaged property from cleanup through the final repairs, so you do not have to coordinate several contractors.

I…Ok so most reviews give you an idea about the company. That is all fine and good. This is a great company. But I would like to review the people. I called and talked to Matt. I needed several repairs done so I could meet my closing deadline. Matt assured me it would be no problem. He had my countertop repaired in a couple of days. Then a team showed up and repaired some ductwork in the attic and did mold restoration under the house. They did an amazing job and in a timely manner. And as with projects and a client that needed everything done yesterday, there were a couple of things that needed addressed after the team left. Now mind you, we live way out of town in Chadwick. It is 45 minutes to anything. So when I asked them to look at the issues, Adrian came out to promptly address these issues and assured me it would be taken care of. It was a Sunday. I didn’t expect anything to get taken care of on a Sunday. The closing is Thursday and the inspector is coming back out to inspect the work, right??? Well about 45 minutes later another truck pulled into my driveway. A guy walked up and was introduced to me. It was John, the owner of ABC. Now when I tell you I was surprised that they were addressing these issues on a Sunday, you can imagine how confident I felt knowing the OWNER OF THE COMPANY came out to make sure everything was done and done right was amazing. I will close on time and the sump pump has been replaced, hand rails added to the deck, and the inspector will check every box that I asked ABC Environmental Contracting to check. So if you need a job done and a job done right that you can count on, I highly recommend you call these people. They aren’t just a company working to earn a check. These are people that care and take pride in their craft. And Adrian even lit my hot water heater and closed my garage door that I left open. These are people you can depend on. Thank you guys for saving the closing on my house. Read more
