At ABC Environmental Contracting Services, we know how devastating water damage can be. Recently, we helped a residential homeowner recover from an unexpected water overflow incident and tackled water damage restoration in Saint Louis, MO. Our team worked quickly to restore the bathroom and basement, ensuring the home was safe and livable once again.

Assessment and Planning

When we arrived, we immediately assessed the damage caused by the overflow, which had impacted the bathroom tiles, basement drywall, ceiling, and carpet. We quickly developed a restoration plan to minimize disruption and get the homeowner back into their home as soon as possible.

Water Removal and Drying Process After Overflow Incident

During this project, our team acted quickly to ensure that the overflow incident didn’t cause long-term damage to the homeowner’s property. We began with water extraction and followed it up with a focused drying process:

Water Extraction

When responding to this overflow incident, our priority was to remove the standing water to prevent further damage. Our team began by using industrial-strength water pumps to extract water from the affected areas, particularly the basement. This step was critical in stopping additional damage to the home’s structural materials and personal belongings.

Drying and Moisture Control

Once the water was removed, we focused on drying out the space. We used powerful air movers and dehumidifiers to eliminate moisture from the air and affected materials. To ensure the areas were thoroughly dried, we used moisture meters to track the progress and prevent mold growth. This careful monitoring allowed us to confirm that no hidden moisture remained in the home’s walls, ceiling, or flooring.

Material Removal and Cleanup

After handling the water and moisture, our next step was to remove all damaged materials to prevent further complications. Here’s how we managed the material removal and cleanup process:

  • Bathroom Tiles Removal: The tiles in the bathroom were badly affected by water, so we carefully removed them to prevent lingering moisture from seeping into the underlying structure.
  • Basement Drywall Replacement: The waterlogged drywall in the basement needed to be replaced. We carefully removed the damaged sections to prevent mold growth and further deterioration.
  • Ceiling Replacement: The basement ceiling was also impacted by water damage. We removed and replaced the affected areas to restore the room's structural integrity.
  • Carpet Removal and Replacement: The basement carpet had absorbed a significant amount of water. We quickly removed and disposed of the damaged carpet to avoid long-term issues like mold and bad smells.

Restoration and Final Steps

Once everything was dried and cleared, we restored the affected areas. We installed new drywall and ceiling, re-tiled the bathroom, and laid fresh carpet in the basement. The homeowner was back in their home in no time, thanks to our fast service.
