At ABC Environmental Contracting Services, we recently had the privilege of assisting a homeowner in Overland, MO, through a challenging water mitigation project. The cause? A pesky pipe break wreaked havoc throughout their home, affecting multiple rooms and materials.

Tackling Chaos in Every Nook and Cranny

Here’s how we approached this water mitigation project:

Assessing the Damage: As soon as we received the call, our team sprang into action. When we arrived, we thoroughly assessed the affected areas. The water had started its journey on the second floor, making its way downstairs and even into the basement. From the restroom, bathroom, bedrooms, and storage room upstairs to the kitchen, dining room, and living room on the first floor, no space was spared from the seepage.

Fast Extraction: With over 120 gallons of water to deal with, our priority was to extract it as soon as possible. Armed with moisture meters and top-of-the-line equipment, we worked hard to get rid of the excess moisture.

Protective Measures: Ensuring the safety of both our team and the homeowners is paramount. That's why we took care to use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) cleaning protocols throughout the entire process.

Damage Removal: Unfortunately, water damage required the removal of affected materials. From drywall and insulation to different types of flooring (tile, hardwood, laminate along with the underlayment) and trim, our skilled technicians carefully removed damaged elements, leaving no stone unturned.

Dehumidification: Once the water and damaged materials were removed, it was time to tackle the moisture that lingered in the air. Our powerful dehumidifiers went to work, creating the optimal environment for effective drying.

Ceiling and Wall Demo: In rooms where ceilings had collapsed and walls were heavily affected, we didn't hesitate to take the necessary steps to restore structural integrity. Through precise demolition work, we cleared away damaged areas, preparing the space for reconstruction.

Thorough Cleaning: A clean environment is essential for a successful restoration. We carefully cleaned and wiped down all surfaces, ensuring they were free from any contaminants.

Antimicrobial Treatment: To prevent the growth of mold and bacteria, we used a powerful antimicrobial spray on the exposed studs and other surfaces. This extra layer of protection offers peace of mind for the homeowners, knowing that their space is not only restored but also safeguarded against potential future issues.

At ABC Environmental Contracting Services, we take pride in our ability to turn challenging situations into success stories. Through our detailed approach to water mitigation, we were able to restore not just a home, but also the peace of mind of its inhabitants.
