At ABC Environmental Contracting Services, we take pride in helping homeowners feel safe and comfortable again after facing mold problems. Recently, we helped a homeowner in Wildwood, MO, who discovered mold growing in their bedroom and bathroom. They needed fast and reliable help to remove the mold and prevent it from coming back. We were happy to step in and make sure the job was done right with our expert mold remediation in Wildwood, MO.

When the Worried Homeowner Reached Out for Help

We got a call from a concerned homeowner in Wildwood. They had experienced a sewage backup a few weeks earlier. Unfortunately, the area was not dried properly, and lingering moisture allowed mold to start growing. The homeowner noticed musty smells and visible mold on the drywall and baseboards. Knowing how dangerous mold can be for health, especially in living spaces, they wanted to get rid of it fast. And we stepped in immediately.

Tackling Mold After Water Damage: The Steps We Took In the Process

Here’s how our team expertly restored the safety of this home:

Inspection and Assessment

When we arrived at the home, we first inspected both the bedroom and bathroom. We found mold on the drywall, baseboards, and part of the bathroom flooring. We wore full PPE (personal protective equipment) to make sure we stayed safe while inspecting the area and during the entire project.

Setting Up Containment Barrier

Before starting the work, we set up containment barriers to keep mold spores from spreading to other parts of the house. We used heavy plastic sheeting and sealed all doorways and vents in both rooms.

Removing Damaged Materials

This is how our demo process went:

  • Flood Cuts: We performed precise flood cuts above the floor line to safely remove all drywall contaminated by mold growth, making sure no hidden mold was left behind inside the walls.
  • Baseboard Removal: We detached and discarded the baseboards to eliminate any porous materials that could harbor lingering mold spores.
  • Bathroom Flooring: Our team needed to remove a section of the bathroom flooring that was showing visible mold contamination to prevent future spread and allow for complete drying of the subfloor.
  • Sink and Toilet: We carefully disconnected and removed the sink and toilet to access and address mold-affected areas underneath and around the fixtures, ensuring no moisture or contamination was left behind.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

After the demo, we cleaned all surfaces thoroughly. We sprayed EPA-approved antimicrobial solutions on the remaining structure and wiped down all surfaces carefully. This helped us kill any leftover mold spores and also prevent them from settling back inside this home.

Drying the Area

We made sure the area was completely dry by using professional-grade fans and dehumidifiers. This was a necessary step because moisture was the problem the homeowner was dealing with in the first place.

Laundry Pack Out and Content Cleaning

Because mold spores can stick to clothes, linens, and personal belongings, we also performed a full laundry pack out. We carefully packed and removed affected clothing, bedding, and other washable items for professional cleaning off-site, which we all delivered to the homeowner’s address after they had been thoroughly cleaned.

Final Inspection

Once everything was cleaned and dried, we did a final walk-through with the homeowner. We made sure they were happy with the results and answered all their questions about preventing future mold problems.

Leaving a Mold-Free Home for Our Client

Our main goal is always to leave the homeowner feeling relieved and confident in their home again. After finishing the job, the homeowner shared how grateful they were for our fast response, careful work, and attention to detail. They mentioned feeling peace of mind knowing that not only was the mold removed, but their clothes, bedding, and personal items were also safe.
